On Wednesday 4th October last, 48 Valence pupils from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 competed in the cross country championships at Mayesbrook Park along with 650 competitors from Barking and Dagenham Schools.

After whole school trials and a month of training, our pupils did Valence proud. Well done to our Year 3 Boys team and Year 4 girls team finishing 5th and to our year 5 boys team and our year 6 boys team finishing 4th, just outside the medal places respectively.

We had seven athletes finish in the top 11 in this Barking and Dagenham Borough competition respectively;

M Kabongolo - Year 3 Coral Bonham - 8th position in the boy’s race

C Jones - Year 3 Coral Bonham - 8th position in the girl’s race

J Emberry - Year 4 Amethyst Bonham - 10th position in the boy’s race

M McCarthy - Year 4 Jade Bonham - 9th position in the boy’s race

R Stanton - Year 3 Ruby St Georges - 6th position in the boy’s race

T Nwosu - Year 4 Jade St Georges - 6th position in the boy’s race

E Mintah - Year 6 Aquamarine St Georges - 11th position in the boy’s race

Thank you to everyone for making it a special day for our pupils. It was a wonderful event for all involved and although we didn't come back with silverware this time, it is a step in the right direction to make Valence a competitive cross country team for future events. Roll on next year’s competition!
