Special times
This is a special time of year as many families celebrate Ramadan or Easter this term. We wish all our communities an enjoyable and blessed time of celebrations.
Nursery places
We are registering for September 2024, and at both sites, we will offer ALL-DAY provision (8.30am - 3.30pm) to a limited number of pupils. Enquire at the offices about places and procedures. Don’t miss out…….
Polite reminder
Pupils are asked not to play football or basketball, ride scooters, etc in the playgrounds before school due to the number of parents and other children on site….
PE lessons
All children are expected to take part in PE lessons when they are in school. PE is a statutory part of the curriculum. If there are medical reasons for withdrawal from PE lessons, please provide a written signed letter to the class teacher in the morning.
Rights Respecting School
We are very pleased to tell you that we are progressing well to Silver with UNICEF's Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA). At Valence, we are always striving to create the best possible learning environment for our children and this achievement shows that we are committed to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging them to respect the rights of others in school.
World Book Day
Well done to all the pupils (and parents!) who made World Book Day such a wonderfully creative occasion. It was great to see the homemade creations. Have a look on the website for a wide selection of costumes and outfits.

Home-school communication
If you have a message for the class teacher, please pass it via the member of staff on duty by the entrance doors or use ClassDojo. It is not always convenient for the teacher to talk at 8.45am as they are preparing the class and taking the register.
SING!
After the huge success of parent/carer singing lessons at the Bonham Road site, we are now in a position to offer five weeks of funded singing lessons for parents/carers at the St George’s Road site, starting on Tuesday 23rd April from 1.55pm - 3.00pm. Sign up at the office.
Did you know….?
The amount of time children spent using devices can be harmful or helpful to your child's development. Here are tips to make sure your child benefits from the time spent online: • limit children to an agreed amount of time per day. • think carefully about what children are doing while they are online and whether or not it is stimulating. • time spent online should not interfere with family time or schoolwork. Finally, be clear with your child about why you are limiting their time online and that it is for their benefit.

Reporting pupil absence
Please advise the school at least 24 hours in advance, if a child has an appointment, rather than on the day, and provide evidence of appointment via school email or the office. This allows us time to ensure your child is ready and time for us to talk with you about the appointment. Also, if a child is absent, please provide the school with evidence of any medical appointments (card/phone message from doctor to office) so school can support the absence. Absence due to ill health can also be evidenced with a copy of medication prescribed to your child.
Why is attending school every day so important?
Let’s aim high – aim for 100% attendance. This gives children the best chance to succeed. The government research says that in order for pupils to make the best progress, they should be in school at least 96.5% attendance. Do you know your child’s attendance percentage? The class teacher can inform you.
