Fundraising

Thank you for your generosity as we raised £1661 from the Christmas events. These funds have been put towards Science Week workshops with a visiting provider.

Nursery provision

We have places at the St. George’s Nursery. We also offer ALL-DAY provision (8.30am - 3.30pm). Enquire at the office about places and procedures.

Yes, please!

Not sure what to do with good quality school uniform that you no longer need? Well, we can use it. The Roosts on each site run sessions where parents can come and collect quality uniform. If you have spare fleeces or school jumpers, please bring them in.

Numbers Day 2025

Valence Primary took part in this event, engaging pupils in the world of mathematics while supporting a fantastic cause. The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is an essential charity that works tirelessly to protect children and provide support to those in need. We are thrilled to combine learning with fundraising to make a difference. Children came dressed in numbers, some creating full costumes inspired by digits. Thank you for your support and donations. Every contribution counts and will help make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

Consider others

Please do not park across residents’ drives whilst dropping of your child. It can be very inconvenient, and you could be fined.

Why is attending school every day so important?

Let’s aim high – aim for 100% attendance. This gives children the best chance to succeed.

Serving the local community

We have noticed that many Valence pupils love to look after the local environment and are eager to keep the school as smart as possible. We have litter picker packs available to borrow from the offices so you can improve your locality.

Curriculum @ Valence

We offer a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based. It promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society. It prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. The national curriculum in England - Framework document (PDF))

We also make provision for Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE), drawing on good practice. Most importantly, we are also free to include other subjects or topics of our choice in planning and designing our own programme of education. This gives us the opportunity to teach Valence children about matters that are directly relevant to growing up in Dagenham today.

To that end:

  • Pupils learn about the functions of the brain and how to self-regulate. This is linked to the Zones of Regulation. The Zones of Regulation (link opens in new window)
  • We are a Rights Respecting School, promoting an understanding of the rights of pupils and the importance of their voice in society. The Rights Respecting Schools Award (link opens in new window)
  • We access age-appropriate resources to help tackle serious matters of discrimination e.g. Year 6 study the story of Stephen Lawrence and attend sessions on the dangers of knife crime; Black History Month is celebrated every October; children’s literature is chosen to ensure a range of diversity.
  • Assemblies highlight the range of cultural and religious heritage we enjoy in our community.

We believe all children deserve a curriculum that improves their life chances, enabling social equity and mobility. Our school core values, PRAISE, are a thread that runs throughout the different subjects we teach.

We value the input of parents, and welcome any offer of input that will enhance the pupils’ experience e.g. talks about different professions, stories that will inspire the children at assemblies, sharing about cultural festivals, cookery demonstrations, etc. Do let us know if you would like to come in and share these with the pupils.
